# 8

My breath was trembling.
“I heard a strange sound...”
“Nothing, go back to your place.”
The maid's voice disappeared as the door closed forcefully. My eyes met Sertin's again. I immediately knew what I had to do now.
I began to move my lips hesitantly, then opened them slightly.
“Oh, it hurts!”
I started kicking my feet and shedding tears.
Oh my God... what an embarrassing moment that made me wish I was dead.
It seems that my death from shame will be faster than my death because of one of the murderers or any other enemy.
“Ha-ha-ha.”
Sertin smiled softly, approached me, and extended his hand. Then he touched my cheek lightly and said
“Enough.”
What... what is he doing? For a moment, I was so taken by the beauty of his face that I forgot everything. But I quickly gathered my concentration and continued my act.
"It hurts! How can I not cry if I'm in pain? Husband, you're an idiot!"
“Your husband?”
“Huh... Rosie told me that...”
Fortunately, tears started flowing from my eyes naturally. Sirtain took my hand and helped me up. His touch was a little rough but warm enough.
Sertin sat me on the bed and began combing my hair lightly, strand by strand.
His blue eyes were focused on me carefully, reflecting the image of me crying like a little girl.
Sertin leaned his head towards me, smiling that familiar smile on his face. A smile that was like a black curtain for a 19+ scene.
What do I do....?
I had a strange feeling that made me turn away. I wanted to swallow my saliva, but I was afraid that would reveal my hesitation, so I settled for silently sniffing my nose.
Sertin extended his hand towards me...or so I thought.
But instead, Sertin picked up the small papers that were scattered on my bed. These papers, which caused me great embarrassment, were what I was looking through before I fell out of bed.
At that moment, I could only think of one sentence
I'm done.
The decision to visit Evelyn late at night was deliberate.
He had been wondering what Evelin would look like when no one was around, when she let her guard down.
Evelyn received Cyrtain in a more shocking way than he expected.
She fell out of bed, and her nightgown was turned upside down, exposing her legs.
However, when he saw her crying like a little girl, he really wondered if she was just a naive girl or if there was more behind those tears.
But…
“What is this?”
Cyrtain smiled wryly as he picked up the things scattered on her bed. These papers had strange numbers and dots on them.
It was clear that they were secret codes.
Sertin turned his gaze to Evelyn, who was wiping away her tears with shaky breaths. Suddenly, Evelin jumped up from her place with her eyes wide open, quickly running towards him.
Sertin left her the freedom to act as she wanted. Evelyn climbed on top of Sirtain, who was pushed onto the bed.
At that moment, the edges of her dress fluttered for a moment.
Evelyn placed her hand on Sirtain's chest, panting heavily
Sertin narrowed his eyes as he looked at Evelyn, as the latter pulled the paper from him with a triumphant smile.
“Evelyn?”
“It's mine! I'm the one who found it, so it's Evelin's treasure!”
Evelyn muttered in a childish tone. Sertin looked up at her and asked her
“Where did you find her?”
“Hmm…out there. I was looking for a treasure and I found it. It all belongs to Evelin! I won’t give it to anyone!”
Sertin narrowed his eyes further, wondering if she was pretending or if she really meant what she was saying.
“But the whole garden is mine. I’m the one who gave you permission to use it. Therefore, anything found there is mine. That means you stole what was mine, Evelyn.”
Certain said, his voice calm but loaded with meaning.
Evelin opened her eyes wide, seeming to be trying to respond. She started moving her lips shyly
“…Theft? What does theft mean?”
Once again, I was caught off guard. Sertin replied in a low voice mixed with a slight laugh
“Theft is taking something without permission, like a thief. It is very bad.”
For a moment, Evelyn seemed to frown, but it happened so quickly that Cyrtain wondered if he was imagining it.
She seemed hesitant. Sertin waited patiently for her, curious for her response. He remembered how he had made her read the story of the princess who ate the poisoned food, and how his hand ended up wet with saliva from the intensity of the fusion.
Today when he suddenly visited her, he saw her rolling off the bed in an embarrassing situation.
So, what are you going to do now?
Evelin started to squirm a little, then finally said
“Then….maybe I’ll show it to you for a very short time.”
“You show it to me?”
“Yes! Because you let me use the garden, I will let you see my treasure! Evelin is not evil!”
Cyrtain tried to stifle his laughter, but he couldn't, then he whispered softly
“Well, if you'll allow it, I'll see. But you have to be a good girl.”
Evelin shook her head reluctantly, and began to spread the five papers with her long slender finger, saying proudly
“You can just look! It's Evelin's treasure!”
A strange feeling of shame overwhelms me. Is this the only way to survive?
Normally, when I was bothering Serena, Rosie, or Rosalina, I didn't feel these feelings. But with Sirtin, everything is different.
I always feel like he's making fun of me.
Maybe because of his deep looks, which suggest that he knows everything and is deliberately messing with me.
However, showing him the papers might be a good idea, maybe he could decipher them.
I looked at him with a shy smile and asked him
“Are you done looking at it?”
I was curious to know if he understood its content, but I couldn't ask directly. Sertin raised his head and gave me a captivating smile
“Yes, I'm done. Thank you, Evelyn.”
He reached out his hand and gently stroked my hair.
Then he picked up something that fell on the floor. It was a glass jar filled with candy. It was always under the bed, but it seemed to have rolled over because of the commotion that had just occurred.
No, why... at this time...?
I swallowed.
"Don't you like candy? Why is this under the bed?"
I let myf rush based on instinct.
She pretended to be mad and snatched the glass jar from Sertain's hand. Then I screamed loudly.
"She's my treasure!! You're a bad person! A bad husband! Why do you always want Evelin's treasures? Go now! I won't show them to you!"
Sertin laughed at those words.
While he buried his face in the bed and shrugged, laughing, I screamed and stomped my feet until he ran out of the room.
The next day, after Serten laughed for a long time on my bed and then left, the palace guards changed.
I don't know the details, but it seems that people from the Palace Knights have been changed.
I received a gift as if it was a mockery.
It was a glass jar filled with candy.
* * *
Mortega came with a surprised face, searching for two sertains. Perhaps because he had just finished his training, Sertin was walking out of the training ground, wiping the sweat off his face with a towel.
"Why are you running like a horse on fire from early in the morning? Did something happen?"
His smiling face was cold but beautiful.
When Mortega saw Certin breathing in the cool morning air, he swallowed.
Mortega said in a muffled voice
“Your Highness, I heard that the shift schedule of the Royal Guards and His Highness’s guard shift has changed. It is said that the schedule will be announced every morning.”
“Is there a problem?”
"No, but I'm curious as to why. Was there an attempted attack? Were you hit anywhere... or not...?"
Mortega glanced at Sertin. His perfect body of toned, solid muscles was incredibly smooth.
Mortega raised his head and stared at Sertin.
“I thought my heart would stop, Your Highness.”
Mortega murmured involuntarily. Mortega then collapsed to the ground because his legs were weak, while Certin looked on, laughing lightly.
“You are so sensitive.”
"There have been three attacks this year, Your Highness. And how many times has your cup contained poison?"
Mortega rubbed his swollen eyes.
Serten lowered his body and looked at Mortega in the eyes and said in a calm voice
“As you can see, I'm fine, Mortega.”
“Your Highness is not alone. Always remember that my life depends on yours.”
Mortega said in a low voice.
Last night, the change in the palace guards' shift schedule was one of Sertain's own decisions.
Sertin patted Mortega on the shoulder and stood up.
Sirten's eyes turned cold as he turned around.
The morning sun was rising.
